An opportunity to explore what it’s like to be a human with other humans
The intention for this day is to slow down and notice what the moment holds, in the place where we are and what is there within and between us. You are invited to bring as much of yourself as you feel willing and able to, to be open to meeting others just as they are, and to see what happens!
This Encounter day will involve the opportunity to connect with others in pairs or threes as well as in the whole group, exploring in the moment what it is like to be together. We might notice what supports us to be available to contact and what holds us back from contact. You might sense…
‘What bubbles up inside me as I’m sharing my being with another?’
‘What happens in me as I receive their sharing?’
There will be some lightly guided practices to help sense what it’s like to be in the moment with this other person right now and how it is to notice that and share it if that feels right. The intention is to create a space together where we have some gentle curiosity about ourselves and each other and welcome what helps us feel alive, connected, supported.
There will be some structured time as well as some unstructured, lightly facilitated, group time, allowing for different sorts of connection and exploration.
You are invited to bring your readiness to connect, to listen, to share, to get in touch with what brings a feeling of aliveness for you, as well as what allows you to feel present and calm. You are invited to trust your own sense of how much openness and contact feels right for you on the day.
What people have said about the Encounter Days:
“I loved being in a group and being able to experiment with voicing my truths in a way that also seeks to be respectful to others”.
“I came away energised and something in me felt awake that had been sleepy, hungry for more human contact in the way we had been together”.
“I enjoyed the way that Suzi held the space treading a balance between structure and flexibility. It was also great to feel Suzi's presence as both a facilitator and a participant”.
“I loved the way Suzi brought herself into the interactions with others”.
“I really appreciated how you worked, staying present as yourself and also being open and fully engaged, but at the same time doing a brilliant job of facilitating and holding the group”.

About Suzi
I have been involved in Encounter groups for nearly 20 years and I love the unpredictable, exciting and sometimes uncomfortable experiences they can bring. I have felt healed by the many times I have been supported in such groups and grown in my ability to be the different and evolving aspects of myself. I have been a Person Centred counsellor for over fifteen years and have been a Focusing practitioner for ten years. I regularly teach Focusing to groups at novice and professional level and love the richness that holding space for groups can bring. I’m excited to bring together my passion for the power of encounter groups with the gentleness and slowing down of the Focusing approach. What’s alive in me now is also a more recent involvement in Circling groups and other relational practices such as Authentic Relating and Non Violent Communication. I have a long held interest in connecting with others, the support and aliveness this can bring and the multitude of ways in which this can happen.
